One Eventful Weekend
Posted in Davis, IMs, Races on November 23rd, 2008Turkey Trot
Lots of things happened this weekend. It started off with Justin, Francis and I running a 10k in the Turkey Trot. It went well. Justin and Francis were trying to do a fast pace, something more than I could handle, so I stayed back and just ran as I could. The race went really well, and even though I was being passed by people in the first half, I was able to keep going and start passing in the second half.
About two minutes before finishing the race, I actually ran into Francis. He was so beat that he could barely talk. I finished strong, comingin at the 55:50 mark. After looking up the final results, I actually did a 55:19 and ran at an 8:59 pace. I finished in the bottom half of men my age, but I’m glad I ran it.
* Also, two funny things. First off, I was running in a workout shirt, a football jersey, and then a hoodie and a beanie. After I finished, Justin was there, and so we were talking. He asked me if I was sweating. I said I didn’t think so and took off my beanie. Apparently I was wrong because I completely doused him in sweat; it was awesome = )
* Second funny thing. As I said, I was running in three layers. I figured it was a 10k so I didn’t really need to worry about anything. Apparently I was wrong. I scraped up my nipples to the point of slight bleeding. Huzzah!
IM Finals
We lost 1-2. A pity indeed. The team we played was good in the first half, but there was no reason why we shouldn’t have won 5-2, we missed on so many chances in the second half. Oh well, everyone played awesome and, as can be the case with football, the better team doesn’t always win. But congrats to the other team, they finished undefeated, and we were the only to team to score on them in the playoffs.
Also, thanks to our fan section, especially Patrick and Omar’s friend (sorry! I never got your name…) for being there during every game.
By the way, I blame it all on you, generalfeldmarshall ; )
